Jaime: who works in the office... took us in a van on our morning activity to Fuentes Georgians.
It is a hot water spring... I have never been too one before. It was a nice morning in the hot tub essentially!
Then on the way back we had fun listening to the Spanish Radio station and singing to that.
I also did laundry on monday and meet the nice Hugo that the students have told me about.
In clase yesterday, monday, we spent along time just talking about the weekend and then about economic issues in guatemala, us, world. And a bunch of other stuff I can´t remember. I enjoy class because we talk about stuff in spanish to begin with and then later we work on a certain type of expression... like yesterday was expessing opinion. Then at the end we read Luna de Miel which actually means Honeymoon. But it is the moon, yes I mean like the moon in the sky, that is talking. It was written during the war I believe and it has a social critism underneath. We read it because it talks about the song Luna de Xelaju which is a really important song here and the highschoolers have to learn it. So part of my homework was to go home and tell the story to Luis who then in his morning class had to tell it too his classmates... we will see who that turns out!
Then at night when I got back Joshua...the 5 year old, and Felipe...his grandpa, and I and later Luis played with the new pelota... ball. At first we played Monkey in the middle and it went on and on! But it was lots of fun! Joshua had way too much energy though!
It was interesting to discover that Luis knows the 50 nifity united states song! I hadn´t heard it all the way through since about 5th grade! But I was able to join in with the chorus! Patricia just laughed at the fact that we could do that! I was surprised too!
So that was yesterday... I really should be doing my homework... but writting sounded more fun! So I will get off and hopefully get something accomplished before our morning activity... which is a hike somewhere.
Adios y hasta luego!
Raquel
