So I can tell that its time for me to head back soon because the last few days Ive been up and down every few hours... happy, stessed, happy, sad.
Last night I was working on my paper and well... wasnt getting ANYTHING done! So Ive decided that this paper that I need to turn into LR will have to wait until after I get back because it is going to ruin my last few days otherwise! But then at night Patricia came in and sat on my bed and we did our homework together... such a better way to spend the night than just sitting in my room by myself! I miss having someone to talk to when Im doing homework! So thanks to Patricia my night ended well and was productive!
Then in the morning I woke up to people getting ready to leave. Felipe and Julito are going to Gaute to see Felipes mother and will not come back until Sunday... the day my flight goes out.... although now that I think about that it will be really convent because if anything goes wrong while Im in Guate they will be there too!... anyway side tracked! So I got up to say my goodbyes =( I think Julito came to hug me at least 3 times! I also had him pick out one of my worry people to taken with him because a few days ago he was telling me about they ment good luck and he looked interested in them!
Then it was really exciting because I learned how they turn corn into the dough for tortillas! I was getting in the shower when my Flori yells from the kitchen... Raquel vas a duchar.... si pero corto esta bien?... si pero quiero ensenarte algo... anyway the conversation was something like that through the bathroom window and I was getting ready to shower! Well Im glad that when I got out I put on real clothes and not PJs because we were off down the block and not staying in the kitchen like I had thought!
They take the corn and soak it and then she goes to this store about 4 blocks behind their house and they put it in a machine that grinds it down and it is ready to make tortillas. It was really interesting to watch because I did not know how it was done! We went back a second time because she wanted me to have pictures to show Patricia and Luis. So we were out early in the morning and it was soooo beautiful! I got back in time to eat some cornflakes and it was out the door to school! And how great my day started out! And it was only 8 AM.
Then I got to school and had to take my exam... it went fine but it kind of put me in a bad mood because I didnt do everything that I probably should have done... even thought I worked on it for over an hour and a half. It was all long answer questions and by the end I was tired and then had to watch her grade it... which if she had just handed it too me graded I would have been better! Then I had to go down for the Fiesta that we have every Thursday for those leaving. They had bread and frijoles sandwhiches... which shouldnt be good... but they were. And we had to say our good byes. Which was kind of sad because most of the people I have to say goodbye to are already gone. At the end Lourdes tells you have graduated because... ex you used subjuntive or you talked even though you didnt want to!... for me she said you graduate because you talk very fast!... so I think thats a compliment... idk
Our afternoon activity put me in a better mood. 7 of us went to San Andres Xecul... I think! It took a microbus, chicken bus and pickup to get there! The pickup was new experience because the last one I had taken went slowly down a hill while I was sitting down. This was flat land, fast and sanding up... probably one of the more unsafe things in the world but it was kind of fun too!
We visited the church which has a very colorful outside and saw a few other parts of the city as well. It is also surrounded by mountains and it has such pretty landscape! You can see it better there than in Xela.

Well now Im on my way home. Getting down to the end of my time here =( but it has been good. I just bought a liter of water for 6 quetzals so Im pretty excited! I also got some chickys... there a cookie that Luis hooked me on... to take home with me!
I will update more later!
Abrazos, Raquelita

I have had more ups and downs upon returning. I was happy to be back to my "own" everything. But the time we spent away is long enough to adjust and then get yanked out. I want to speak Spanish at inappropriate times, and my English is funky. :-)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your end of stay. Don't stress about anything, just soak it in.
Abrazos,
